This Maxtech mortise apartment entry lockset is the classic knob-and-deadbolt lock found on apartment unit doors throughout New York City. It pairs a solid brass deadbolt with a latchbolt in a single mortise case, with a 2-1/2" backset and a 1" x 7-5/8" faceplate. It is a direct replacement for worn or broken apartment entry locks on standard 1-3/4" steel and wood doors.
The 1-1/8" mortise cylinder uses the common SC1 (Schlage C) keyway and is easy to rekey. Two keys are included. Long escutcheon plates (2-3/4" x 10" outside, 2-1/4" x 7" inside) cover old prep holes and give a clean finished look.
Check your measurements before ordering. Mortise locks are not one-size-fits-all. Compare your existing lock's faceplate, backset and cylinder location with the dimension drawing and drilling template in the product photos.

Which handing do I need?
Stand on the outside of the door (the hallway or keyed side) and push the door open.
- Right Hand: hinges on the right, knob and cylinder on the left.
- Left Hand: hinges on the left, knob and cylinder on the right.
If the door pulls toward you from the outside, it is a reverse-bevel door. Call us before ordering and we will confirm the right lock.
Installation
Fits a door mortised 1" wide by 3-3/4" deep. Drilling template: 1-1/4" cylinder hole, 7/8" turnpiece hole, 7/8" knob hole, and 1/2" thru-bolt holes. The installation sheet and full-size template are shown in the product photos. Professional installation is recommended when converting a door from a different lock type.
