Handing
Left hand or right hand?
Stand outside the door, on the side you push from. If the hinges will be on your left, order Left Hand. If they'll be on your right, order Right Hand. Your frame and door must be the same hand. Not sure? Call us and we'll help you confirm before you order.
FAQ
Welded frame FAQ
Does a welded frame include the door or hardware?
No. These are sold as frames only. The door slab, hinges, lockset and any closer or exit device are sold separately. Pair it with a cylindrical prep slab or a mortise prep slab, add door hardware, or choose a complete KIN steel door unit.
What is a welded door frame?
A welded frame arrives as one fully assembled piece, with the head and jambs welded together at the factory. It's set in place while the wall is built, so it's the standard choice for masonry block walls, new construction, and busy commercial openings like stairwells, corridors and back-of-house doors. For a frame that installs in a finished drywall wall, choose a knock-down frame.
What jamb depth are these frames?
These stock welded frames have a 4-7/8" jamb depth. The jamb depth must match your finished wall thickness. For other wall depths or masonry conditions, contact us — we fabricate welded frames to spec.
What size frame should I order?
Order the frame by the door size it holds. A 36" x 84" frame fits a 36" x 84" door. We offer 24" to 36" widths in 80", 84" and 96" heights, left or right hand.
Welded or knock-down frame — which is better?
Welded frames are one rigid piece with factory-welded corners, set during wall construction — the strongest option for masonry and high-traffic openings. Knock-down frames ship flat and install after the drywall is up, which suits renovations. Both hold a standard steel door slab.
Can you make a custom welded frame?
