Which door closer do I need — 800 or 900 Series?
The 900 Series is cast aluminum, UL/ULC listed up to three hours, and ships with a parallel arm bracket and hardware for all installation applications — the pick for fire-rated doors. The 800 Series is a maximum-duty cast steel closer for the most demanding high-traffic openings.
Are these door closers fire rated?
The 900 Series is UL/ULC listed for fire doors up to three hours. For a fire-rated opening, the door, frame and all hardware must be rated for the assembly — call us to confirm the right closer for your fire door.
What does adjustable size 1–6 mean?
Closer size sets the closing force. Both closers adjust from size 1 (light interior doors) to size 6 (wide, heavy or exterior doors), so one closer covers most standard commercial openings. Wider and heavier doors, or doors facing wind, need a higher setting.
What are backcheck, sweep and latch speed?
Backcheck slows the door as it's opened hard so it doesn't slam into the wall. Sweep speed controls how fast it closes through most of its swing, and latch speed controls the last few inches so it latches firmly without slamming. The 800 Series adjusts sweep and latch speed independently.
Does a door closer include the door or frame?
