Cylindrical door slab FAQ

Does a cylindrical door slab include the frame or hardware?

No. These are sold as door slabs only — the steel door leaf itself. The frame, hinges, lockset and any closer or exit device are sold separately. See our steel door frames and door hardware, or choose a complete KIN steel door unit.

What is a cylindrical prep door slab?

A cylindrical prep slab has the standard ANSI 161 lock prep — a 2-1/8" bore through the door face with a 2-3/4" backset — to accept a cylindrical knob or lever lockset. If you're installing a mortise lockset with a box-style lock body, choose a mortise prep slab instead.

What size steel door slab should I order?

Order by the nominal opening size, for example 36" x 84". The slab itself measures 1/4" narrower and 3/4" shorter to leave clearance inside the frame. We offer 24" to 44" widths and 72" to 96" heights, including extra-wide 42" and 44" leaves for equipment rooms and service corridors.

Are these steel door slabs fire rated?

Yes. Every slab on this page is 90-minute fire rated. For a fire-rated opening, the frame, hinges and lockset must also be rated for the assembly.

How do I pick up or get my door slab delivered?

All sizes are in stock at our Brooklyn and Brentwood, NY warehouses. Pick up at the warehouse, choose NYC delivery, or ship LTL freight nationwide.

Can you make a custom size door slab?

Yes. We fabricate to spec in our New York factory. Contact us for a quote or contractor pricing.
