Pick your louver

Every louvered unit starts from our complete door unit — door, frame, hinges and lock — with the louver cut and installed in our shop. Louvered units are priced by quote.

Fire louver (fusible link)

Keeps the door's fire rating. The blades close automatically when heat melts the fusible link — the choice for boiler and mechanical rooms in rated walls.

Rated openingsFusible link

Non-rated louver

A fixed louver for airflow where no fire rating is required — storage rooms, trash rooms and unrated mechanical spaces.

Welded or knock-down?

Throat depth is the overall wall thickness the frame wraps. Pick the frame type, then the throat that matches your wall.

Welded frame

One rigid piece with welded corners, set as the wall goes up. The strongest option for masonry and concrete block walls and new construction.

Knock-down frame

Ships in three pieces and wraps a finished drywall opening — ideal for retrofits and tenant fit-outs. 3 3/4" fits 2-1/2" studs, 4 7/8" fits 3-5/8" studs (5/8" drywall each side), 6 1/8" fits thicker walls.

Ordering guide

How to pick the right swing

Door handing chart: right hand, left hand, right hand reverse, left hand reverse

Stand on the outside of the opening — the side the door swings away from.

Right hand: hinges on the right, door swings away from you.
Left hand: hinges on the left, door swings away from you.
Reverse (RHR / LHR): the door swings toward you — call us if you need a reverse swing.

Measuring: order by nominal door size. A 36" × 80" unit has an actual door of about 35-3/4" × 79-1/4" and an overall frame of about 40" × 82". Check your drawings or local code for the required swing — or send us your rough opening and we'll confirm.

FAQ

Louvered door questions

What's the difference between a fire louver and a non-rated louver?

A fire louver has a fusible link that closes the blades in a fire so the door keeps its rating. A non-rated louver stays open and is only for openings that don't need a fire rating.

Which louver sizes do you offer?

12" × 12", 18" × 18" and 24" × 24".

How are louvered units priced?

By quote, based on size, frame, louver type and lock. Call (718) 455-8442 or request a quote.

Welded or knock-down frame — which do I need?

Choose welded for masonry or block walls and new construction (4 7/8" throat). Choose knock-down for an existing drywall or stud wall: 3 3/4", 4 7/8" or 6 1/8" throat to match your wall thickness.

How do I get my door unit?
