Does a hollow metal door include the frame or hardware?

No. Every door on this page is a door slab only — the steel door leaf. The frame, hinges and lockset are sold separately. See our steel door frames and door hardware, or choose a complete door unit.

What is a hollow metal door?

A hollow metal door is a commercial steel door made from two steel face sheets over a reinforced core. Ours are 20-gauge galvannealed steel, 1-3/4" thick, with an insulated honeycomb core — the standard door for apartment buildings, offices, stairwells and utility rooms.

Cylindrical or mortise prep — which do I need?

Cylindrical prep has a round bore for a knob or lever lockset. Mortise prep has a pocket cut into the lock edge for a box-style mortise lock, common on apartment entry doors. Match your existing lock — or call us and we'll help.

What size door should I order?

Order by the nominal opening size, for example 36" x 84". The door itself is slightly smaller to leave clearance inside the frame. We list widths from 24" to 44" and heights from 72" to 96".

Are these hollow metal doors fire rated?

Yes. Every door on this page is 90-minute fire rated. For a fire-rated opening, the frame, hinges and lockset must also be rated for the assembly.
