Built for heavy-use commercial openings
Rigid, one-piece frame
Welded corners keep the frame square and true, so the door swings and latches cleanly for years in high-traffic openings.
90-minute fire protection
A fire-rated hollow metal door for stairwells, boiler rooms, corridors and other openings that call for a rated assembly.
Secure out of the box
Lockset plus deadbolt and self-closing spring hinges — no separate hardware order, no surprises on install day.
How to pick the right swing
Stand on the outside of the opening (the side the door swings away from, or the public/corridor side).
Right hand: hinges on the right, door swings in, away from you.
Left hand: hinges on the left, door swings in, away from you.
Measuring: order by the nominal opening size — the door size, not the rough opening. For a 36" × 80" unit, the actual door is about 35-3/4" × 79-1/4" and the overall frame is about 40" × 82". Not sure? Send us your rough opening and we'll confirm the size.

Commercial door unit questions
What is included with a commercial steel door unit?
Each unit includes a 20-gauge, 1-3/4" flush hollow metal door, a 16-gauge welded steel frame, a cylindrical lockset, a deadbolt, and three 4-1/2" self-closing spring hinges in satin chrome.
Is the door fire rated?
Yes. The hollow metal door carries a 90-minute fire rating, suitable for stairwells, corridors, mechanical rooms and other openings that require a rated door.
What is the difference between a welded frame and a knock-down frame?
A welded frame arrives as one rigid piece with welded corners and is set as the wall is built — ideal for masonry and block walls and heavy-use openings. A knock-down frame ships in three pieces and wraps an existing finished drywall opening.
What size door unit do I need?
Order by the nominal door size. A 36" × 80" unit, for example, has an actual door size of about 35-3/4" × 79-1/4" and an overall frame size of about 40" × 82". Send us your rough opening if you'd like us to confirm.
How do I know if I need a left hand or right hand door?
Stand on the outside of the opening. If the hinges are on your right and the door swings away from you, it's right hand; if they're on your left, it's left hand.
Can you make custom sizes?
Yes. We fabricate steel doors and frames in our New York factory and can build units to non-standard widths and heights. Request a quote with your dimensions.
How do I get my order?
