Shipping policy

At Universal Fireproof Door Co., Inc., we take pride in ensuring your doors, frames, and hardware are packaged and shipped safely and efficiently. This Shipping Policy explains how we handle deliveries for both stock and custom orders.


1. Processing & Lead Times

  • Stock items: Orders are typically processed and ready to ship within 2–3 business days after payment is received.

  • Custom orders: Lead times vary depending on specifications, material availability, and current production schedule. Estimated production times are provided at the time of quotation or order confirmation.

  • Rush orders: Expedited production or shipping may be available upon request at an additional charge.

You will receive an email confirmation with tracking or freight details once your order has shipped.


2. Shipping Methods

We ship using trusted freight carriers and local delivery trucks depending on order size and destination.

  • Smaller items (such as hardware) may ship via UPS, FedEx, or similar ground carriers.

  • Larger orders (doors, frames, and assemblies) are shipped via LTL or full truckload (FTL) freight.

  • Local deliveries within the New York City and Long Island area are often handled by our own trucks.

All shipments include basic freight service — delivery to the curb or loading dock. Inside delivery, liftgate, or jobsite placement must be arranged and quoted in advance.


3. Shipping Costs

Shipping charges are calculated based on weight, size, destination, and carrier rates.
These charges are displayed at checkout or on your invoice.
Customers may also provide their own freight carrier account if preferred.


4. Delivery Inspection & Acceptance

Please inspect all deliveries upon arrival:

  • Count the number of packages and check for visible damage before signing the delivery receipt.

  • If any damage or shortage is found, note it clearly on the bill of lading before the driver leaves.

  • Please take photos of any visible damage and email them to Sales@ufiredoor.com within 48 hours.

Failure to note damages at the time of delivery may void the ability to file a freight claim.


5. Damaged, Lost, or Missing Items

  • If your shipment arrives damaged or incomplete, contact us immediately with photos and documentation.

  • UFD will assist in filing freight claims and arranging replacements if the claim is approved.

  • For concealed damage (not visible at delivery), it must be reported within 5 business days of receipt.


6. Freight Scheduling

For large deliveries:

  • The freight carrier or UFD dispatcher will contact you to schedule a delivery window.

  • Customers are responsible for ensuring that someone is available to receive and sign for the shipment during the scheduled time.

  • Redelivery or missed appointment fees from the carrier will be billed to the customer.


7. Pickup Options

You may also choose to pick up your order at our Brooklyn facility:

Pickup Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Please bring your order confirmation or invoice when picking up. We’ll load your vehicle using appropriate equipment.


8. International Shipping

At this time, UFD primarily ships within the United States.
For international or export orders, please get in touch with sales@ufiredoor.com to discuss freight arrangements, customs documentation, and logistics.


9. Delays Beyond Our Control

UFD is not responsible for shipping delays caused by:

  • Carrier issues or routing errors

  • Weather, labor strikes, or natural disasters

  • Incomplete or incorrect shipping information provided by the customer

We will always do our best to resolve any delivery issues quickly.
