A complete apartment entry replacement: our 20-gauge mortise-prepped steel door, hung on a welded 12-gauge angle frame with three spring hinges, a mortise apartment lock with deadbolt, a peephole and a door chime. The unit slips into your existing frame — no demolition, no patching, no frame removal.

How it works
STEP 01Measure the frameMeasure width and height of the existing opening at the rabbet. Pick your size and handing.
STEP 02We fabricateWe weld the angle frame and hang the door with hinges, lock, peep and chime — in-house in Brooklyn.
STEP 03Slide in & installThe unit slips into the old frame and fastens in place. The old frame stays in the wall.
Which handing do I need?

Stand on the outside of the door — the side you push from. Hinges on the left is Left Hand; hinges on the right is Right Hand. See the swing chart in the product photos if you are not sure.

Required Tools

  • Level (minimum 48")
  • Hammer drill with masonry bits
  • Screwdriver set or impact driver
  • Shims (wood or steel)
  • Safety equipment (gloves, glasses)

Installation Steps

  1. Verify opening dimensions and ensure rough opening is plumb and square.
  2. Position frame in opening and secure with temporary bracing.
  3. Level frame using shims at anchor points.
  4. Install anchors per specifications (typically 12" from corners, 24" on center).
  5. Verify door operation before removing temporary bracing.
  6. Install fire-rated seals and threshold.
  7. Apply required labels and conduct final inspection.
Important: All fire-rated doors must be installed by licensed professionals in accordance with NYC building codes. Improper installation voids fire rating and warranty.
