A complete steel exterior door package for service entrances, back doors and loading areas: a 20-gauge hollow metal door, a 16-gauge steel frame, three self-closing spring hinges, a UFD knob or lever lock and a Grade 2 deadbolt. Built in our Brooklyn factory.

How to order

1. Size — nominal door size (width x height).
2. Frame & Throat Depth — welded for masonry and block, knock-down for drywall.
3. Lock & Swing — knob or lever, lock function, and left or right hand. Every unit includes a deadbolt.

Frame types & throat depths

• Welded frame (masonry & block walls, set as the wall is built): 4 7/8" throat.
• Knock-down frame (installs into a finished drywall opening): 3 3/4", 4 7/8" or 6 1/8" throat.

Throat depth = the overall wall thickness the frame wraps: 3 3/4" for 2-1/2" studs, 4 7/8" for 3-5/8" studs, 6 1/8" for thicker or double-layer walls (5/8" drywall each side).

Lock functions

• Storeroom — always locked outside, opens only with a key; free exit inside. Best for mechanical, electrical and storage rooms.
• Entrance — push-button lock inside, key outside. Best for offices and tenant doors.
• Passage — always unlocked, latch only. Best for corridors and stairwells that must stay free to pass.

Sizing & swing

Order by nominal door size. A 36" x 80" unit has an actual door of about 35-3/4" x 79-1/4" and an overall frame of about 40" x 82". To choose the swing, stand on the outside (the side the door swings away from): hinges on the right = Right Hand, hinges on the left = Left Hand. Need a reverse (out-swing) or a custom size?
