Best Value For Security

Universal hollow metal doors are ideal for security doors. Unlike wood or aluminum glass doors, steel doors provide more security and durability. Wood doors often crack, and storefront glass doors are vulnerable to broken glass. If your commercial building is in an area subject to abuse or break-ins, the Universal commercial steel door is your best option with the best value. Heavy-duty door construction and frame are much more durable than aluminum or wood. Steel doors also have a much higher impact resistance than commercial wood or storefront doors.

Energy Efficient

Our hollow metal steel doors come standard with an insulated honeycomb core. This core type helps retain your commercial building's energy.

Questions & Answers

How to measure a steel door for an existing steel frame?

Tools Needed:

Measuring tape

Notepad or device for recording measurements

Step-by-Step Process:

Measure the Width of the Door:

Open the door and measure the width from the edge of the door on one side to the other.

Measure at three different points: top, middle, and bottom. If the measurements differ, use the smallest measurement.

Measure the Height of the Door:

Measure the door height from the top edge of the door to the bottom edge, not including any weatherstripping or thresholds.

Measure the Thickness of the Door:

Measure the thickness of the door by placing the measuring tape on the edge of the door. Standard steel doors are usually 1-3/4 inches thick, but some older or custom doors might be different.

Measure the Frame Opening (Optional):

If you’re replacing the door, measure the inside dimensions of the frame (called the "rough opening"). Measure the width from one side of the frame to the other and the height from the sill to the top of the frame.

Check the Hinge Placement:

Measure the hinge locations on the existing door. Measure from the top of the door to the top of each hinge to ensure the new door’s hinges will align with the existing frame.

Measure the Strike Plate & Lockset Placement:

Measure from the top of the door to the center of the lockset and strike plate to ensure proper alignment of the lock mechanism with the frame.

Important Considerations:

Door Swing: Determine the door swing (left-hand or right-hand) to ensure the replacement door opens in the correct direction.

Existing Frame Condition: Inspect the steel frame for any damage or warping that could affect the new door's fit. You may need to make repairs or adjustments before installing the new door.
